I decided to look at the different face shapes and different angles to try and see if they had an impact on the way that someone looks, but also to try and manipulate features to fit the certain angle.

Female character development:

I looked at Carrie White from both films, and I tried to analyse the way that her facial expression and body language changes and how drastic it changed. One thing I haven’t looked at with the female face is the actual face shapes themselves. Saying that I didn’t really trial the different angles all that well.

New Doc 2018-09-15 13.27.33_5 I tried to look at different body structures. I had done what is considered “normal” or the average female body style for a 24 year old. But I also tried to create a tall and slender version with a slimmer chest, I liked it because it mirrors myself in a way. I find myself very secluded and almost hermit like with where people are concerned. I also tried to create a small and almost petite structure because I had a funny idea of a woman in a thick baggy hoodie just shrinking into the hood in the middle of town. But I also thought to myself that why not try something different, like I had looked at animals but thought about mermaids/ sirens because they are often seen on their own and have a hobby of lurking people into their doom. They are seen as very anti-social creatures so I took that into consideration.

Again the picture above is some trial poses for if I did decide to do a siren character. Instead I decided to try and do a Leviathan because of the dark nature of the leviathan.

From the picture above you can see 2 different styles of eyes. I had mainly done towards the Disney style because I wanted to try and twist the appearance of a “HAPPY-GO-LUCKY” franchise into more of a Tim Burton cross Adam Elliot style. I had tried to draw the 3 main angles for the nose and the mouth which I don’t think have worked very well.

The still needs a bit of work, for example I need to do a complete finished outcome but I also need to design some sort of hair for all 3 characters.

Male character development:

New Doc 2018-09-15 13.27.33_10

With the male design, I had found it easier to try and create more face shapes. Again with what I had learned from the first attempt with the female I sort of knew where to pick on and try and build up more. However I had used this same sheet to try and create 2 different male characters. One of which is based of a real person.

New Doc 2018-09-15 13.27.33_11

I had tried to do a different approach with the male body styles because you rarely see a fat character. So this got me thinking that I could make a bio quite easily for the fat male. However what I ended up going with was a normal average body structure for a male but then I also thought of a tall and slender man which again gave me something to think about. The one thing I had forgotten about was the stereotypical “Gym Freak”.

Again I had tried to go for a Disney style. But I had encountered a problem when it came to doing the mouths. I was able to generate more nose shapes than the female one because I find the female nose to be more small and button like with it pointing up more rather than the male nose tip pointing down. I tried to keep the eyes similar to the females in the terms of the emotions and the expressions that are shown.

This is one of my designs for the male model character sheet. This one is made to be more of the muscular, arrogant and sarcastic styles personality and view.

This is the last of the character model sheets.

I decided to try and create something that isn’t a common thing that still comes under the theme as a misanthrope. I decided to try and create a character for a Poltergeist. They are often depicted as evil spirits that often float to other objects or possess people in the attempt to scare and make them leave, they also transfer for object to object.

The full synopsis of all the characters are included on the power point presentation!!!

All I need to do now is to try and create some hair styles and then some clothing for them and I should be able to have a finished character model hopefully with an action pose and 3 different emotions. I also need to create a character walking cycle for all 3 characters that would show the way that they would walk.

I had created some rough examples of the 3 characters without the design process which appear nothing like the actual design process.

This was the rough attempts that I created. I rushed it and did it all without care or using the proper steps. I will redo them to the actual style I want to do.
